Setup

Cronus Zen setup for NBA 2K27

The whole process is about fifteen minutes, and most of the problems people blame on a script are actually one of three things on this page. Start with the generic steps, then read the notes for your console.

Pick your platform

PlayStation 5

Supported

Wired DualSense through the Zen, with the authentication timeout to watch for.

Straightforward wired setup — the wireless adapter is the usual failure point.

PC

Supported

Easiest to set up, most variable to calibrate — frame rate is the reason.

We do not claim support. Here is exactly why, and what would change it.

The steps that are the same everywhere

Loading Splash 2K27 onto a Zen works the same regardless of which console it ends up plugged into.

  1. 1

Install Zen Studio on a computer

Download Zen Studio from the official Cronus site and install it on a Windows or macOS machine. This is the only part of the process that needs a computer, and you only do it when you want to load or update a script.

Watch out: Use the official download. Zen Studio builds mirrored on random forums are how people end up with bricked devices.

  2. 2

    Update the Zen firmware

Connect the Zen to the computer with a data-capable USB cable, open Zen Studio, and let it flash the current firmware. Scripts are compiled against a firmware generation — running a two-year-old firmware is the single most common cause of "the script does nothing".

Watch out: A charge-only USB cable will power the Zen but will not carry data. If the device never appears in Zen Studio, swap the cable first.

  3. 3

Load Splash 2K27 into a slot

Open the .gpc file you downloaded, then use Program Device to write it to one of the Zen's script slots. Leave a slot free if you want to keep a previous version around to fall back on after a patch.

  4. 4

Wire the Zen between controller and console

The Zen sits in the middle: your console feeds the Zen through its input port, and your controller connects to the Zen. Get this backwards and the console will simply not see a controller.

Watch out: Wired is the reliable path. Wireless setups add a pairing layer and a few milliseconds of variance, which is exactly what you do not want on a timing script.

  5. 5

    Calibrate for your setup

Run the calibration routine once for your build and your display. Release windows shift with display latency, so a calibration done on a 120Hz gaming monitor does not transfer to a living-room TV in a picture mode with processing enabled.

Watch out: Put your TV in Game Mode before calibrating. Nothing else on this list will save you from 80ms of post-processing lag.

  6. 6

    Verify before you queue

Take the script into a practice environment first and confirm the mods respond the way you expect. Two minutes in a controlled setting beats discovering a bad calibration in the middle of a Rec game.
